2nd. Amersham Common Scouts
Held every year in the Spring for the last 10 years Guests are invited from day centres, retirement homes, or those we know. We always get 60-70 or more, many of which need us to provide transport there and back. They arrive from 2pm onwards and given a cup of tea until the cabaret starts at 2.30pm. Scouts from all section play their musical instruments, sing, recite poetry/short stories or just tell jokes. At about 3.15pm there are a few games for the guest to play with Beaver and Cub Scouts sitting at their tables with them. In 2005 they were asked to make boats or shoes etc etc out of paper, cardboard and sellotape, followed by a quiz. At 4pm the scouts serve tea, sandwiches and cakes all supplied by Beaver and Cub Scout parents. At 4.30pm we have a sing-song of old hits accompanied by the piano. Everyone goes home happy at 5pm.
