Cub Activities

2005 County Beaveree

In June I went to the County Beaveree, held at Chalfont Heights Scout Camp. The theme of the Beaveree was Countries from Europe. We went to the Beaveree in the Beaver Bus. The Beaveree is only held once every two years; it is really good fun. The Beaveree is a time for Beavers from all over the County to get together and have fun.

The first base I went on was called Splat the Rat, where you got to hit a wooden rat with a wooden pole. The prize for hitting the rat was some sweeties.
My favourite base was our one, the Santa one, our country was Finland. We made Christmas decorations for our tent at Beavers. On our base you were allowed to make some Santa Biscuits with Smarties and icing. When my dad and A’s were running the base we didn’t have so many people, because most of the kids come in dozens of tornadoes and then it’s very quiet for a minute or two.
My second favourite base was the one where you made necklaces that you could eat (red liquorice strip and Cheerios).
I went on to a stall called Viking Piggies, they were from Turkey. You got two shots with plastic footballs to knock down all the piggies. If you knocked down lots of them you got two sweets.

I went to the Scoobie Doo stall and they gave me two strings. I gave them to one of the ladies and she tied them together folded in half so I had four strings. I made a circle Scoobie Doo to hang on my school bag.
One of the popular stalls was the one from Greece, where you got to smash china plates and cups.
I really liked being able to walk around the Beaveree with my friends. We had a good time buying things from the stalls.
I got a great 2005 Beaveree badge. The picture on it is the European Flag with two people going to shake hands on it. If your Beaver leaders asks you if you want to go to the next Beaveree I’d recommend YES.

Overnight Camp (Beaver Sleepover)

I went to the overnight camp in the car with my friend MS and his dad.
When we got there we went into the hall and they told us where our beds were. They talked to us about the rules and things we weren’t allowed to do. After that, we split into lots of groups of 5 or 6 beavers. Even though I wasn’t with Matthew, I made a new friend in my group.
There were outside games and inside games. I liked the ones outside best of all, especially fire making. We leaned small sticks into a sort of cone and the grown-ups rubbed other sticks together until they made flames. I also really liked shoot-out which was where we fired elastic bands at cups to knock them over.
For tea we had bacon, peas, sausages and baked beans and, for pudding, the cakes that we brought. We slept in cabins that were made of wood. They were wide and not very deep. We all slept in the same cabin in beds with a sheet but they were very hard so we put our camping rolls and sleeping bags on top. At about 9 O’clock we played Bingo and we went to bed at 10 O’clock. I was absolutely exhausted.
In the morning we had breakfast cereal and blackcurrant or orange juice. We played a few more games. Then we had all the certificates and after that PJ’s mum came to pick us up and drop me off at my house. I had a really good time.

Marlow Summer Cub Camp.

We had fun staying in tents on a little island. Some of the activities we did included climbing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and lots more.
Cub camp really helped me because in the summer holidays we went canoeing in France twice and it equalled 26 km of canoeing. And so I helped everyone in my family because I was experienced and they weren’t.

What I like about Cubs  1

When I got to Cubs everyone was playing football and I played it too. Next A talked to us about what we doing that night. Our group sorted out a first aid kit and put it into a box. We put in an inhaler, water, bandages, plasters and medicine. Then we learnt how to put a plaster on a cut and how to look after somebody who has been burnt by a fire. He must be put in a bath, but he must not be left by himself. Next we breathed into a plastic person, and then we went home.

What I like about cubs  2

One of the activities I found the most enjoyable at Cubs was Cub Camp where we spent 2 nights camping on a very small island!
We had the chance to try out climbing, sailing, kayaking and lots of other interesting activities. We also had a treasure hunt which was a lot of fun. We were put into groups to do the activities so at the end of Cub Camp the winning team could earn a prize.
Our group scout leader spent his birthday at Cub Camp so he treated us to some of his birthday cake! I had a great time and would recommend it to all the new cubs.

What I like about Cubs  3

I liked cub camp because we got to sleep in a tent, go kayaking, canoing and rock climbing.
I Iiked the food as well because we ate around a campfire. That was really cool! Sleeping in tents was wicked!
The first night it was hard to get to sleep but the second night I went to sleep straight away.
It was an island in the middle of the river Thames and it was a weird shape like a pear, pointy at the top and round at the bottom. We set up camp at the round bit of the island. It was great, we had a fantastic time!!! Thanks,

What I like about Cubs  4

One Friday evening we went swimming at Rickmansworth.
I dived at the deep end and did my stage 2 swimming badge.
I enjoyed it so much, I want mummy to take us there again.

What I like about Cubs  6

The best thing I have done at Cubs so far is swimming at the Chesham Open Air Pool.
I enjoyed playing on the inflatable. It was fun trying to keep out of the way of the lifeguard who threw buckets of water over us.
All the cubs had a great time. I hope we get the chance to go there again and have another play on the inflatable.

I LOVE CUBS!

I really enjoy cubs but I have some favourite things that I have done. I had a great time doing swimming and my favourite part was the inflatable and we raced to the end and went down a slide but it was hard because it got wet and most of the time I fell off.
Another great time I had was when we were in the hall and we had an Italian evening. We made pizzas, had a quiz and we got to eat our pizzas. Mine was nice but I think it could of done with a bit more cheese.
I had one more best time at cubs and that was the Indian evening where there was Indian food (which I love), Indian games (I won one of them) and they did a performance of dancing.
