Notes:

  1. Mobile phones are expressly forbidden and will be confiscated. The reception is not good at the site and there are no facilities for charging the battery. They encourage homesickness amongst younger campers. Most importantly they are a BIG distraction!!!
  2. It is not necessary to bring large quantities of sweets and fizzy drinks. It discourages Scouts from eating the food provided.
  3. Waterproofs should be of good quality.
  4. If you own a personal buoyancy aid then bring it - otherwise we can lend. You are encouraged to get your own wetsuit - the water can be cold and we have very few to lend. We can advise on where to obtain them.
  5. Old or inexpensive deck shoes are needed for easy access to canoes and prevent damage to boats. Trainers are not suitable for canoes as soles are too thick. Wet suit boots are ideal if you have them.
  6. Padded outer jackets are unsuitable as they take too long to dry and are a fire risk.
  7. Please ensure all personal items are labelled. Lost property will be kept to September 30th and then be disposed of.
  8. Personal radios, TV's, stereos, mobile phones and Walkman are not allowed.
  9. As you progress through the troop you will probably find the following necessary.
    1. mess tins as opposed to plates
    2. Silva type compass. Recommended type 3 or 4 with civilian NOT military scale
    3. Lightweight backpacking cooker
    4. Map case
  10. Pocket money maximum £20, in small notes and coins to be banked with Kate on Friday July 23rd. Medication also to be handed in on Friday 23rd.

All these items are available at most good outdoor stockist.
